Learning Support Assistant

About the Role:

You'll support a KS2 pupil with SEMH needs. The pupil can display disruptive and anti-social behavior and therefore needs a mentor to be able to look up to and aspire to. Once settled in they are lovely however they do require long-term support.


This is a challenging yet rewarding role for any Learning Support Assistant!


Responsibilities:

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support to a designated pupil with SEMH needs.
  • Implement individualized behavior management strategies and de-escalation techniques.
  • Build positive relationships with the pupil based on trust and mutual respect.
  • Support the pupil's emotional well-being and social skills development.
  • Assist with academic learning and classroom activities.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and other professionals to create a supportive learning environment.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to the pupil's Individual Education Plan (IEP).


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs is essential.
  • Knowledge of positive behavior management strategies and de-escalation techniques.
